How safe is your credit card data?

If they can hack Global Payments and get 1.5 million VISA and MasterCard accounts what could they do to your credit card processor? VISA has pulled Global Payments from their list of “compliant service providers” because the company doesn’t meet Visa’s standards for security. Global Payments now has to provide proof that it complies with payment card industry security standards before they can be added back to VISA’s list of compliant service providers.

The security breach shows that cards were exposed between January 21 and February 25, so watch your own credit card statements for fraudulent transactions. Card information was not only viewed but also exported but does not include cardholder names, addresses and Social Security Numbers.
